Occupational therapy tips for making life just a little bit easier

About me...

Hello! I am Patti Murray an occupational therapist with over 29 years of experience helping adults and senior citizens regain life skills. I am passionate about helping people live their best lives, even when they are facing challenges due to illness or disability.

I began my career as an occupational therapist working in a Skilled Nursing facility. I worked with patients who had a variety of disabilities, including stroke, fractures, dementia, upper extremity injuries, multiple sclerosis and many more. I helped them to regain their independence in activities of daily living, such as bathing, dressing, eating and mobility.

After many years, I decided to focus on homecare. I felt that I could make a bigger impact in people's lives by working with them in their own homes. I also wanted to be able to provide more comprehensive care, which included helping people to adapt their homes to their needs and to find resources in their community.

Over the years I have helped many people live more independent and fulfilling lives. Many have returned to work, participated in old hobbies, and are able to maintain relationships with their loved ones.

In addition to clinical work, I am an advocate for people with disabilities. I founded the blog Able Bodies, Able Minds, where I share tips and advice for people with disabilities. My goal is to be a resource for people with disabilities and their families. I provide practical advice on a variety of topics, such as how to adapt your life/home, make life a little easier, and less frustrating when the body doesn't do what it used to. I will also share personal stories and insights from my own experiences as an occupational therapist.

My goal is to help people with disabilities live their best lives. I believe everyone deserves to have the opportunity to participate fully in society, regardless of their abilities. This blog is a powerful tool for helping people to achieve their goals. I hope you enjoy!
